Polyurethane Foam Roofing

Spray Polyurethane foam (SPF) roof systems are constructed by mixing and spraying two liquid components that adhere to a base roof system. SPF can be installed in varying thickness to provide slope, drainage or to meet a specific thermal resistance (R-value). Several protective coatings are then applied to the Foam to protect it from the elements.

The first component of an SPF roof system is a rigid, closed cell, spray polyurethane foam insulation. The second component is known as a base coating which consists of a protective elastomeric coating; this surface provides weather-proofing and shields the foam against UV exposure and mechanical damage along with increasing fire resistant characteristics. Next is a top coating to protect everything beneath it and provide an adhesive layer for the mineral granules that are placed into the coating to provide increased surface durability and aesthetic value.
